Abdul-Rahman bin Abis reported,

I heard Ibn Abbas comment on the verse "It throws out sparks like castles" saying, "We used to take a piece of wood three cubits long or more and store it for the winter, calling it al-qasr (the castle)."Regarding "As if they were yellow camels" [Mursalat 77:32–33], he said, "These are the ropes of ships, bundled together until they are as thick as the waists of men."
