Abdullah bin Masud reported,

Allah has cursed the women who tattoo and those who have themselves tattooed, those who pluck their facial hair, and those who file their teeth for beauty, altering Allah's creation.Word of this reached a woman from Banu Asad named Umm Yaqub. She came and said, "It has reached me that you have cursed such and such."He replied, "Why should I not curse those whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has cursed and who are mentioned in the Book of Allah?"She said, "I have read what is between the two covers, and I have not found in it what you say."He said, "If you had truly read it, you would have found it. Have you not read, 'Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it'?"She said, "Yes."He said, "Then he has forbidden it."She said, "But I see your own wife doing it."He said, "Go and look."She went and looked, but found nothing of what she was after. He said, "If she were like that, I would not have remained with her."
