Anas bin Malik reported,

The Prophet ﷺ consummated his marriage to Zaynab bint Jahsh with a meal of bread and meat. I was sent out to invite people to the food. Groups would come, eat, and leave, then more would come, eat, and leave. I kept inviting people until I could find no one else to invite.I said, "Prophet of Allah, I cannot find anyone left to invite."He said, "Take away your food."Three men remained behind, chatting in the house. The Prophet ﷺ left and went to Ayesha's room and said, "Peace be upon you, people of the house, and the mercy of Allah."She replied, "And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah. How did you find your wife? May Allah bless you."He went around to the rooms of all his wives, saying to each of them what he had said to Ayesha, and each replied as Ayesha had replied. Then the Prophet ﷺ returned, and there were still three men in the house chatting. The Prophet ﷺ was very modest, so he left again and went toward Ayesha's room. I do not know whether someone informed him or whether he was told that the men had left, but he came back, and when he had placed one foot inside the threshold of the door and the other still outside, he let down a curtain between us, and the verse of the hijab was revealed.

His saying, "Do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse and do not seek to remain for conversation. Indeed, that was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of you, but Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you to trouble the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him ever. Indeed, that would be, in the sight of Allah, an enormity."
