Anas bin Malik reported,

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Zaynab bint Jahsh, he invited the people, and they ate. Then they sat talking. He appeared as though he was preparing to stand, but they did not get up. When he saw that, he stood, and when he stood, those who would rise rose with him, but three men remained seated. The Prophet ﷺ then came back to enter, only to find the men still sitting. Eventually they got up, so I went and informed the Prophet ﷺ that they had left. He came and entered, and as I went to enter as well, he drew the curtain between him and me. Then Allah revealed, "Believers, do not enter the houses of the Prophet..." [Ahzab 33:53].

حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله الرقاشي حدثنا معتمر بن سليمان قال سمعت أبي يقول حدثنا أبو مجلز

عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال

لما تزوج رسول الله ﷺ زينب بنت جحش دعا القوم فطعموا ثم جلسوا يتحدثون وإذا هو كأنه يتهيأ للقيام فلم يقوموا فلما رأى ذلك قام فلما قام قام من قام وقعد ثلاثة نفر فجاء النبي ﷺ ليدخل فإذا القوم جلوس ثم إنهم قاموا فانطلقت فجئت فأخبرت النبي ﷺ أنهم قد انطلقوا فجاء حتى دخل فذهبت أدخل فألقى الحجاب بيني وبينه فأنزل الله {يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي} الآية

His saying, "Do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse and do not seek to remain for conversation. Indeed, that was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of you, but Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you to trouble the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him ever. Indeed, that would be, in the sight of Allah, an enormity."
