Qasim bin Abu Bazza reported,

He asked Saeed bin Jubayr whether someone who deliberately kills a believer can find any path to repentance. I recited to him the verse, "And those who do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right" [Furqan 25:68].Saeed said, "I recited this verse to Ibn Abbas just as you have recited it to me, and he said, 'This is a Meccan verse, and it has been abrogated by a Medinan verse in Surah an-Nisa.'"

حدثنا إبراهيم بن موسى أخبرنا هشام بن يوسف أن ابن جريج أخبرهم قال أخبرني

القاسم بن أبي بزة

أنه سأل سعيد بن جبير هل لمن قتل مؤمنا متعمدا من توبة فقرأت عليه {ولا يقتلون النفس التي حرم الله إلا بالحق} فقال سعيد قرأتها على ابن عباس كما قرأتها علي فقال هذه مكية نسختها آية مدنية التي في سورة النساء
