Abdullah bin Masud reported,

When Quraysh delayed in accepting Islam, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah, help me against them with seven years of famine like the seven years of Yusuf." So a year of drought struck them that wiped out everything, until they ate bones, and a man would look up at the sky and see something like smoke between him and it. Allah said, "So watch for the Day when the sky will bring a visible smoke" [Dukhan 44:10]. Allah said, "Indeed, We will remove the punishment for a little. Indeed, you will return to disbelief" [Dukhan 44:15]. Will the punishment be removed from them on the Day of Resurrection, when the smoke has already passed and the great seizure has already passed?
