We were with Hudhayfah when he said, "None of the people associated with this verse remain except three, and none of the hypocrites remain except four."An Arabi said, "You are the companions of Muhammad ﷺ. You inform us of these things, yet we have no knowledge of them. So what about these people who break into our houses and steal our valuables?"Hudhayfah replied, "Those are merely sinners. Indeed, none of the hypocrites remain except four. One of them is an old man so aged that if he drank cold water, he would not feel its coldness."

كنا عند حذيفة فقال ما بقي من أصحاب هذه الآية إلا ثلاثة ولا من المنافقين إلا أربعة فقال أعرابي إنكم أصحاب محمد ﷺ تخبرونا فلا ندري فما بال هؤلاء الذين يبقرون بيوتنا ويسرقون أعلاقنا قال أولئك الفساق أجل لم يبق منهم إلا أربعة أحدهم شيخ كبير لو شرب الماء البارد لما وجد برده
