Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

Uyayna bin Hisn bin Hudhayfa arrived and stayed with his nephew Hurr bin Qays, who was among the small group of men whom Umar kept close to him. The Quran reciters were the companions of Umar's councils and consultations, whether they were older men or young.Uyayna said to his nephew, "Nephew, do you have any standing with this commander? Seek permission for me to see him."Hurr replied, "I will seek permission for you."Ibn Abbas said, So Hurr sought permission for Uyayna, and Umar granted it. When Uyayna entered, he said, "Listen here, son of Khattab! By Allah, you neither give us generously nor judge between us with justice."Umar became so angry that he was about to strike him. Hurr said to him, "Commander of the Faithful, Allah Most High said to His Prophet ﷺ, "Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant" [Araf 7:199], and this man is one of the ignorant."By Allah, Umar did not go beyond that verse once Hurr recited it to him, for he always halted at the Book of Allah.
