Saad was struck on the day of the Trench in his arm vein, so the Prophet ﷺ pitched a tent in the mosque to visit him from nearby. Nothing alarmed the people of a tent belonging to Banu Ghifar in the mosque except the blood flowing toward them.They called out, "People of the tent, what is this coming to us from your direction?"It turned out that Saad's wound was gushing blood, and he died in it.

أصيب سعد يوم الخندق في الأكحل فضرب النبي ﷺ خيمة في المسجد ليعوده من قريب فلم يرعهم وفي المسجد خيمة من بني غفار إلا الدم يسيل إليهم فقالوا يا أهل الخيمة ما هذا الذي يأتينا من قبلكم فإذا سعد يغذو جرحه دما فمات فيها
