Barirah came to her asking for help with her writ of manumission.Ayesha said, "If you wish, I will pay your owners the full amount, and the right of inheritance from you will be mine."Her owners said, "If you wish, you may give her what remains."Sufyan once narrated it as, "If you wish, you may free her, and the right of inheritance will be ours."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came, she mentioned this to him.The Prophet ﷺ said, "Buy her and free her, for the right of inheritance belongs to the one who frees the slave."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood upon the pulpit. Sufyan once narrated it as, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit," and said, "What is the matter with people who stipulate conditions that are not in the Book of Allah? Whoever stipulates a condition that is not in the Book of Allah, it is invalid for him, even if he stipulates it a hundred times."Ali said, Yahya and Abdul-Wahhab narrated it from Yahya, from Amra, in similar wording. Jafar bin Awn said, narrating from Yahya, "I heard Amra say, 'I heard Ayesha.'" Malik also narrated it from Yahya, from Amra, that Barirah, but he did not mention his ascending the pulpit.
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله قال حدثنا سفيان عن يحيى عن عمرة
أتتها بريرة تسألها في كتابتها فقالت إن شئت أعطيت أهلك ويكون الولاء لي وقال أهلها إن شئت أعطيتها ما بقي وقال سفيان مرة إن شئت أعتقتها ويكون الولاء لنا فلما جاء رسول الله ﷺ ذكرته ذلك فقال النبي ﷺ ابتاعيها فأعتقيها فإن الولاء لمن أعتق ثم قام رسول الله ﷺ على المنبر وقال سفيان مرة فصعد رسول الله ﷺ على المنبر فقال ما بال أقوام يشترطون شروطا ليس في كتاب الله من اشترط شرطا ليس في كتاب الله فليس له وإن اشترط مائة مرة قال علي قال يحيى وعبد الوهاب عن يحيى عن عمرة نحوه وقال جعفر بن عون عن يحيى قال سمعت عمرة قالت سمعت عائشة ورواه مالك عن يحيى عن عمرة أن بريرة ولم يذكر صعد المنبر
