When Abu Musa came, he honored this clan of Jarm. We were sitting with him while he was having his lunch of chicken, and there was a man sitting among the group. Abu Musa invited him to join the meal, but the man said, "I saw it eating something that made me find it repulsive."Abu Musa said, "Come and eat, for I saw the Prophet ﷺ eating it."The man replied, "I have sworn an oath not to eat it."Abu Musa said, "Come, and I will tell you about your oath. A group of us Asharis came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him to provide us with mounts. He refused to give us mounts and swore that he would not provide us with any. But it was not long before some captured camels were brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he ordered that we be given five camels. When we took them, we said, 'We have made the Prophet ﷺ forget his oath. We will never prosper after this.' So I went to him and said, 'Messenger of Allah, you swore not to give us mounts, yet you have given us mounts.' He replied, 'Yes, but I never swear an oath and then see something better than it without doing what is better and making expiation for my oath.'"
