The Prophet ﷺ sent his grandfather Abu Musa and Muaz to Yemen and said, "Make things easy and do not make them difficult, give glad tidings and do not drive people away, and cooperate with one another."Abu Musa said, "Prophet of Allah, in our land there is a drink made from barley called mizr and a drink made from honey called bit."He replied, "Every intoxicant is forbidden."So they set off, and Muaz said to Abu Musa, "How do you recite the Quran?"Abu Musa answered, "Standing, sitting, and while riding my mount, and I recite it in portions throughout the day."Muaz said, "As for me, I sleep and I rise, so I count on reward for my sleep just as I count on reward for my prayer."He pitched a tent, and they used to visit one another. Muaz visited Abu Musa, and there was a man bound in ropes.Muaz asked, "What is this?"Abu Musa replied, "A Jew who embraced Islam, then apostatized."Muaz said, "I will surely strike his neck."Aqadi and Wahb followed him in narrating from Shuba. Waki, Nadr, and Abu Dawud narrated it from Shuba, from Saeed, from his father, from his grandfather, from the Prophet ﷺ. Jareer bin Abdul-Hameed narrated it from Shaybani, from Abu Burda.

بعث النبي ﷺ جده أبا موسى ومعاذا إلى اليمن فقال يسرا ولا تعسرا وبشرا ولا تنفرا وتطاوعا فقال أبو موسى يا نبي الله إن أرضنا بها شراب من الشعير المزر وشراب من العسل البتع فقال كل مسكر حرام فانطلقا فقال معاذ لأبي موسى كيف تقرأ القرآن قال قائما وقاعدا وعلى راحلتي وأتفوقه تفوقا قال أما أنا فأنام وأقوم فأحتسب نومتي كما أحتسب قومتي وضرب فسطاطا فجعلا يتزاوران فزار معاذ أبا موسى فإذا رجل موثق فقال ما هذا فقال أبو موسى يهودي أسلم ثم ارتد فقال معاذ لأضربن عنقه تابعه العقدي ووهب عن شعبة وقال وكيع والنضر وأبو داود عن شعبة عن سعيد عن أبيه عن جده عن النبي ﷺ رواه جرير بن عبد الحميد عن الشيباني عن أبي بردة
