We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward Najd. When the time for the midday rest overtook him, he was in a valley thick with thorny acacia trees. He dismounted under a tree, took shelter in its shade, and hung his sword on it. The people scattered among the trees seeking shade. While we were in that state, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called us, and we came to find an Arabi sitting in front of him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This man came to me while I was asleep and drew my sword. I awoke to find him standing over my head with the sword unsheathed. He said, 'Who will protect you from me?' I replied, 'Allah.' So he sheathed the sword and sat down. Here he is."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not punish him.
