Ayesha reported,

On the day of Uhud the idolaters were routed, but Iblis, may Allah curse him, cried out, "Servants of Allah, watch your rear!" So the front ranks turned back and clashed with those behind them. Then Hudhayfah looked closely and saw that it was his father, Yaman, and he called out, "Servants of Allah, my father! My father!"She said, "By Allah, they did not hold back until they had killed him."Hudhayfah said, "May Allah forgive you."Urwa said, "By Allah, a remnant of that goodness never left Hudhayfah until he met Allah." Basurtu means "I came to know," from insight into a matter, while absartu comes from the sight of the eye. It is also said that basurtu and absartu mean the same thing.

حدثني عبيد الله بن سعيد حدثنا أبو أسامة عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه

عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت

لما كان يوم أحد هزم المشركون فصرخ إبليس لعنة الله عليه أي عباد الله أخراكم فرجعت أولاهم فاجتلدت هي وأخراهم فبصر حذيفة فإذا هو بأبيه اليمان فقال أي عباد الله أبي أبي قال قالت فوالله ما احتجزوا حتى قتلوه فقال حذيفة يغفر الله لكم قال عروة فوالله ما زالت في حذيفة بقية خير حتى لحق بالله عز وجل {بصرت} علمت من البصيرة في الأمر وأبصرت من بصر العين ويقال بصرت وأبصرت واحد
