The Prophet ﷺ said regarding the captives of Badr, "Had Mutim bin Adi been alive and then spoken to me concerning these vile ones, I would have released them to him."Layth reported from Yahya bin Saeed, from Saeed bin Musayab, "The first tribulation occurred, meaning the killing of Uthman, and it left none of the people of Badr alive. Then the second tribulation occurred, meaning al-Harrah, and it left none of the people of Hudaybiyah alive. Then the third occurred, and it did not subside while the people still had any strength remaining."

أن النبي ﷺ قال في أسارى بدر لو كان المطعم بن عدي حيا ثم كلمني في هؤلاء النتنى لتركتهم له وقال الليث عن يحيى بن سعيد عن سعيد بن المسيب وقعت الفتنة الأولى يعني مقتل عثمان فلم تبق من أصحاب بدر أحدا ثم وقعت الفتنة الثانية يعني الحرة فلم تبق من أصحاب الحديبية أحدا ثم وقعت الثالثة فلم ترتفع وللناس طباخ
