I had received an aged she-camel as part of my share of the spoils on the day of Badr, and the Prophet ﷺ had also given me another camel from the fifth that Allah had granted him as war booty that day.When I wanted to consummate my marriage with Fatimah, peace be upon her, daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, I arranged with a goldsmith from the tribe of Banu Qaynuqa to travel with me so that we could fetch some idhkhir grass. I intended to sell it to the goldsmiths and use the proceeds to help with my wedding feast.While I was gathering saddles, sacks, and ropes for my two camels, which were kneeling beside the room of one of the Ansar, I finished collecting what I needed. To my shock, I found that the humps of my two camels had been cut off, their flanks slashed open, and pieces of their livers taken out. I could not hold back my tears when I saw the sight.I asked, "Who did this?"They said, "Hamza bin Abdul-Muttalib did it. He is in this house with a group of the Ansar drinking wine. He has a singing girl with him along with his companions, and she sang in her song, 'Hamza, here are the fat she-camels!' So Hamza leapt up, grabbed his sword, severed their humps, slashed their flanks, and took out pieces of their livers."Ali continued, I went straight to the Prophet ﷺ, where Zayd bin Haritha was with him. The Prophet ﷺ noticed from my face what had happened to me and asked, "What is wrong with you?"I said, "Messenger of Allah, I have never seen anything like what happened today. Hamza attacked my two she-camels, severed their humps, and slashed their flanks. He is now in a house drinking with companions."The Prophet ﷺ called for his cloak, put it on, and set off walking. Zayd bin Haritha and I followed him until he came to the house where Hamza was. He asked permission to enter, which was granted. The Prophet ﷺ began rebuking Hamza for what he had done, but Hamza was drunk, his eyes red. Hamza looked at the Prophet ﷺ, then raised his gaze to his knees, then raised it further to his face, and said, "Are you anything but slaves of my father?"The Prophet ﷺ realized that he was intoxicated, so he stepped back, retreating on his heels, and left, and we left with him.

كانت لي شارف من نصيبي من المغنم يوم بدر وكان النبي ﷺ أعطاني مما أفاء الله عليه من الخمس يومئذ فلما أردت أن أبتني بفاطمة عليها السلام بنت النبي ﷺ واعدت رجلا صواغا في بني قينقاع أن يرتحل معي فنأتي بإذخر فأردت أن أبيعه من الصواغين فنستعين به في وليمة عرسي فبينا أنا أجمع لشارفي من الأقتاب والغرائر والحبال وشارفاي مناخان إلى جنب حجرة رجل من الأنصار حتى جمعت ما جمعت فإذا أنا بشارفي قد أجبت أسنمتها وبقرت خواصرهما وأخذ من أكبادهما فلم أملك عيني حين رأيت المنظر قلت من فعل هذا قالوا فعله حمزة بن عبد المطلب وهو في هذا البيت في شرب من الأنصار عنده قينة وأصحابه فقالت في غنائها ألا يا حمز للشرف النواء فوثب حمزة إلى السيف فأجب أسنمتهما وبقر خواصرهما وأخذ من أكبادهما قال علي فانطلقت حتى أدخل على النبي ﷺ وعنده زيد بن حارثة وعرف النبي ﷺ الذي لقيت فقال ما لك قلت يا رسول الله ما رأيت كاليوم عدا حمزة على ناقتي فأجب أسنمتهما وبقر خواصرهما وها هو ذا في بيت معه شرب فدعا النبي ﷺ بردائه فارتدى ثم انطلق يمشي واتبعته أنا وزيد بن حارثة حتى جاء البيت الذي فيه حمزة فاستأذن عليه فأذن له فطفق النبي ﷺ يلوم حمزة فيما فعل فإذا حمزة ثمل محمرة عيناه فنظر حمزة إلى النبي ﷺ ثم صعد النظر فنظر إلى ركبته ثم صعد النظر فنظر إلى وجهه ثم قال حمزة وهل أنتم إلا عبيد لأبي فعرف النبي ﷺ أنه ثمل فنكص رسول الله ﷺ على عقبيه القهقرى فخرج وخرجنا معه
