A woman from among their women who had pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ told him that Uthman bin Mazun had fallen to their lot for lodging when the Ansar drew lots over housing the Muhajirun.Umm Ala said, "Uthman fell ill while staying with us, so I nursed him until he died, and we wrapped him in his garments. Then the Prophet ﷺ came in to us, and I said, 'May Allah's mercy be upon you, Abu Saaib. My testimony concerning you is that Allah has honored you.'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "And how do you know that Allah has honored him?"She said, "I replied, 'I do not know, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, Messenger of Allah. Then who?'"He said, "As for him, certainty has come to him, and by Allah, I do hope good for him. But by Allah, even though I am the Messenger of Allah, I do not know what will be done with me."She said, "By Allah, I will never declare anyone pure after him."She continued, "This grieved me, so I slept, and I saw in a dream a flowing spring belonging to Uthman bin Mazun. I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him about it, and he said, 'That is his deeds.'"
