Abu Bakr bought a saddle from Azib, and I carried it along with him.Azib then asked him about the journey of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.Abu Bakr said, "Scouts had been set against us, so we set out by night and pressed on through that night and the following day until the sun stood at its peak. Then a rock came into view, and we made for it. It had a small patch of shade. I spread out a leather mat for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ lay down upon it.I went off to scout the area around him, when suddenly I saw a shepherd coming toward the rock with his small flock, seeking the same shade we had sought.I asked him, 'Whose servant are you, boy?'He answered, 'I belong to so-and-so.'I asked him, 'Is there any milk in your flock?'He replied, 'Yes.'I asked, 'Will you milk for me?'He said, 'Yes.'So he took a sheep from his flock, and I told him to dust off the udder. He milked a small amount of milk for me. I had with me a water skin with a cloth tied over its mouth, which I had prepared for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I poured water onto the milk until its lower part was cool, then brought it to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'Drink, Messenger of Allah.'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank until I was satisfied. Then we set off, with the pursuers on our trail."
حدثنا أحمد بن عثمان حدثنا شريح بن مسلمة حدثنا إبراهيم بن يوسف عن أبيه عن أبي إسحاق قال
ابتاع أبو بكر من عازب رحلا فحملته معه قال فسأله عازب عن مسير رسول الله ﷺ قال أخذ علينا بالرصد فخرجنا ليلا فأحثثنا ليلتنا ويومنا حتى قام قائم الظهيرة ثم رفعت لنا صخرة فأتيناها ولها شيء من ظل قال ففرشت لرسول الله ﷺ فروة معي ثم اضطجع عليها النبي ﷺ فانطلقت أنفض ما حوله فإذا أنا براع قد أقبل في غنيمة يريد من الصخرة مثل الذي أردنا فسألته لمن أنت يا غلام فقال أنا لفلان فقلت له هل في غنمك من لبن قال نعم قلت له هل أنت حالب قال نعم فأخذ شاة من غنمه فقلت له انفض الضرع قال فحلب كثبة من لبن ومعي إداوة من ماء عليها خرقة قد روأتها لرسول الله ﷺ فصببت على اللبن حتى برد أسفله ثم أتيت به النبي ﷺ فقلت اشرب يا رسول الله فشرب رسول الله ﷺ حتى رضيت ثم ارتحلنا والطلب في إثرنا
