Abdullah bin Umar reported,

"Do you know what my father said to your father?"I replied, "No."He said, "My father said to your father, 'Abu Musa, would it please you that our acceptance of Islam with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, our migration with him, our striving alongside him, and all our deeds done with him be counted as a gain for us, and that every deed we performed after him simply leave us breaking even, escaping neither rewarded nor punished?'My father replied, 'No, by Allah. We have striven after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we have prayed and fasted, we have done much good, and many people have embraced Islam at our hands. We certainly hope for reward in all of that.'But my father Umar said, 'As for me, by Him in whose hand is Umar's soul, I would love for that to be a gain for us, and for everything we did afterward to leave us breaking even, escaping neither rewarded nor punished.'"I said, "By Allah, your father is better than my father."
