I saw Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl standing with his back leaning against the Kaabah, saying, "People of Quraysh, by Allah, none of you follows the religion of Ibrahim except me."He used to save the lives of infant girls buried alive. Whenever a man intended to kill his daughter, Zayd would say to him, "Do not kill her. I will take care of her expenses for you." So he would take the girl, and when she grew up, he would say to her father, "If you wish, I will hand her over to you, and if you wish, I will continue to provide for her."
وقال الليث كتب إلي هشام عن أبيه
رأيت زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل قائما مسندا ظهره إلى الكعبة يقول يا معاشر قريش والله ما منكم على دين إبراهيم غيري وكان يحيي الموءودة يقول للرجل إذا أراد أن يقتل ابنته لا تقتلها أنا أكفيكها مئونتها فيأخذها فإذا ترعرعت قال لأبيها إن شئت دفعتها إليك وإن شئت كفيتك مئونتها
