I asked Abdullah bin Amr about the worst thing the idolaters ever did to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.He said, "I saw Uqba bin Abu Muayt come to the Prophet ﷺ while he was praying. He put his cloak around his neck and throttled him with it violently. Then Abu Bakr came and pushed him away from him, saying, 'Would you kill a man merely for saying, My Lord is Allah, when he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord?' [Ghafir 40:28]"

سألت عبد الله بن عمرو عن أشد ما صنع المشركون برسول الله ﷺ قال رأيت عقبة بن أبي معيط جاء إلى النبي ﷺ وهو يصلي فوضع رداءه في عنقه فخنقه به خنقا شديدا فجاء أبو بكر حتى دفعه عنه فقال {أتقتلون رجلا أن يقول ربي الله وقد جاءكم بالبينات من ربكم}
