The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, during the illness in which he died, came out wrapped in a cloak with a dark band tied around his head. He sat on the pulpit, praised Allah and glorified Him, then said, "To proceed, the people will increase in number while the Ansar will decrease, until they become among the people like salt in food. So whoever among you is given authority over a matter that harms some people and benefits others, let him accept from the good among them and overlook the faults of those who err."This was the last gathering at which the Prophet ﷺ sat.
حدثنا أبو نعيم حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن سليمان بن حنظلة بن الغسيل حدثنا عكرمة
خرج رسول الله ﷺ في مرضه الذي مات فيه بملحفة قد عصب بعصابة دسماء حتى جلس على المنبر فحمد الله وأثنى عليه ثم قال أما بعد فإن الناس يكثرون ويقل الأنصار حتى يكونوا في الناس بمنزلة الملح في الطعام فمن ولي منكم شيئا يضر فيه قوما وينفع فيه آخرين فليقبل من محسنهم ويتجاوز عن مسيئهم فكان آخر مجلس جلس به النبي ﷺ
