A delegation from Abdul-Qays came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, we belong to this branch of Rabia, and the disbelievers of Mudar stand between us and you, so we cannot reach you except during a sacred month. Give us a command we can take from you and pass on to those we left behind."He said, "I command you with four things and forbid you from four. Believe in Allah, which is to bear witness that there is no god but Allah, establish the prayer, give the zakat, and hand over to Allah a fifth of whatever spoils you take. And I forbid you from the gourd, the green jar, the hollowed stump, and the pitch-coated vessel."

قدم وفد عبد القيس على رسول الله ﷺ فقالوا يا رسول الله إنا من هذا الحي من ربيعة قد حالت بيننا وبينك كفار مضر فلسنا نخلص إليك إلا في كل شهر حرام فلو أمرتنا بأمر نأخذه عنك ونبلغه من وراءنا قال آمركم بأربع وأنهاكم عن أربع الإيمان بالله شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله وإقام الصلاة وإيتاء الزكاة وأن تؤدوا إلى الله خمس ما غنمتم وأنهاكم عن الدباء والحنتم والنقير والمزفت
