I walked along with Uthman bin Affan, and he said, "Messenger of Allah, you gave to the sons of Muttalib and left us out, even though we and they stand in the same relation to you."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The sons of Hashim and the sons of Muttalib are but one and the same."

مشيت أنا وعثمان بن عفان فقال يا رسول الله أعطيت بني المطلب وتركتنا وإنما نحن وهم منك بمنزلة واحدة فقال النبي ﷺ إنما بنو هاشم وبنو المطلب شيء واحد
