We were with the Prophet ﷺ at a feast when the foreleg was presented to him, which he particularly liked. He took a bite from it and said, "I will be the master of all people on the Day of Resurrection. Do you know how Allah will gather the first and the last on a single plain, where one observer can see them all and one caller can make them all hear, and the sun will draw near to them?Some people will say, 'Do you not see the state you are in and what has befallen you? Will you not look for someone to intercede for you with your Lord?'Some will say, 'Go to your father Adam.'So they will come to him and say, 'Adam, you are the father of mankind. Allah created you with His own hand, breathed into you of His spirit, and commanded the angels to prostrate to you, and they did. He settled you in Paradise. Will you not intercede for us with your Lord? Do you not see the state we are in and what has befallen us?'He will reply, 'My Lord has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has never shown before and will never show again. He forbade me the tree, and I disobeyed Him. Myself, myself. Go to someone other than me. Go to Nuh.'So they will come to Nuh and say, 'Nuh, you are the first of the messengers sent to the people of the earth, and Allah named you a grateful servant. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us? Will you not intercede for us with your Lord?'He will reply, 'My Lord has become angry today with an anger the like of which He has never shown before and will never show again. Myself, myself. Go to the Prophet ﷺ.'So they will come to me, and I will prostrate beneath the Throne. Then it will be said, 'Muhammad, raise your head. Intercede, and your intercession will be accepted. Ask, and you will be given.'"Muhammad bin Ubayd said, "I do not remember the rest of it."
حدثني إسحاق بن نصر حدثنا محمد بن عبيد حدثنا أبو حيان عن أبي زرعة
كنا مع النبي ﷺ في دعوة فرفع إليه الذراع وكانت تعجبه فنهس منها نهسة وقال أنا سيد القوم يوم القيامة هل تدرون بم يجمع الله الأولين والآخرين في صعيد واحد فيبصرهم الناظر ويسمعهم الداعي وتدنو منهم الشمس فيقول بعض الناس ألا ترون إلى ما أنتم فيه إلى ما بلغكم ألا تنظرون إلى من يشفع لكم إلى ربكم فيقول بعض الناس أبوكم آدم فيأتونه فيقولون يا آدم أنت أبو البشر خلقك الله بيده ونفخ فيك من روحه وأمر الملائكة فسجدوا لك وأسكنك الجنة ألا تشفع لنا إلى ربك ألا ترى ما نحن فيه وما بلغنا فيقول ربي غضب غضبا لم يغضب قبله مثله ولا يغضب بعده مثله ونهاني عن الشجرة فعصيته نفسي نفسي اذهبوا إلى غيري اذهبوا إلى نوح فيأتون نوحا فيقولون يا نوح أنت أول الرسل إلى أهل الأرض وسماك الله عبدا شكورا أما ترى إلى ما نحن فيه ألا ترى إلى ما بلغنا ألا تشفع لنا إلى ربك فيقول ربي غضب اليوم غضبا لم يغضب قبله مثله ولا يغضب بعده مثله نفسي نفسي ائتوا النبي ﷺ فيأتوني فأسجد تحت العرش فيقال يا محمد ارفع رأسك واشفع تشفع وسل تعطه قال محمد بن عبيد لا أحفظ سائره
