We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a cave when Surah al-Mursalat was revealed. We were receiving it directly from his mouth when a snake came out of its hole. We rushed to kill it, but it escaped us and slipped back into its hole. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have been spared its harm just as it has been spared yours."Israil reported from Amash, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, from Abdullah a similar narration, in which he said, "We were receiving it directly from his mouth, fresh." Abu Awana corroborated this from Mughira. Hafs, Abu Muawiya, and Sulayman bin Qarm reported it from Amash, from Ibrahim, from Aswad, from Abdullah.
حدثنا عبدة بن عبد الله أخبرنا يحيى بن آدم عن إسرائيل عن منصور عن إبراهيم عن علقمة
كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في غار فنزلت والمرسلات عرفا فإنا لنتلقاها من فيه إذ خرجت حية من جحرها فابتدرناها لنقتلها فسبقتنا فدخلت جحرها فقال رسول الله ﷺ وقيت شركم كما وقيتم شرها وعن إسرائيل عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن علقمة عن عبد الله مثله قال وإنا لنتلقاها من فيه رطبة وتابعه أبو عوانة عن مغيرة وقال حفص وأبو معاوية وسليمان بن قرم عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم عن الأسود عن عبد الله
Bukhari reported the hadith of Israil, from Mansur and Amash, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, from Abdullah, who said, "We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, in a cave when "By those [winds] sent forth in gusts" [Mursalat 77:1] was revealed," the hadith of the snake. The companions of Amash narrated it, among them Abu Muawiya, Hafs, and Sulayman bin Qarm, from Amash, from Ibrahim, from Aswad, from Abdullah. No one followed Israil in narrating it from Alqama.As for Mansur, Shayban narrated it from him in agreement with Israil's version. And Abu Awana said, from Mughira, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, in agreement with Israil's version as well.
Israil narrates it from Amash, from Ibrahim, from Alqama, from Abdullah, and I say, the sum of it is that there is disagreement over it regarding Amash.
