Someone asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Has there ever come upon you a day harder than the day of Uhud?"He replied, "I have endured much from your people, and the hardest treatment I received from them was on the day of al-Aqaba, when I presented myself to Ibn Abd Yalil bin Abd Kulal and he did not respond to what I sought. So I set out, distressed and wandering, and did not come to my senses until I found myself at Qarn al-Thaalib. I raised my head, and there was a cloud shading me. I looked and saw Jibreel in it. He called out to me and said, 'Allah has heard what your people have said to you and how they have responded. He has now sent the angel of the mountains to you, so that you may command him to do whatever you wish concerning them.'Then the angel of the mountains called out to me and greeted me, then said, 'Muhammad,' and offered the same. He said, 'Whatever you wish. If you want, I will crush them between the two mountains.'"The Prophet ﷺ said, "Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their loins those who will worship Allah alone, associating nothing with Him."
حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف أخبرنا ابن وهب قال أخبرني يونس عن ابن شهاب قال حدثني عروة أن
للنبي ﷺ هل أتى عليك يوم كان أشد من يوم أحد قال لقد لقيت من قومك ما لقيت وكان أشد ما لقيت منهم يوم العقبة إذ عرضت نفسي على ابن عبد ياليل بن عبد كلال فلم يجبني إلى ما أردت فانطلقت وأنا مهموم على وجهي فلم أستفق إلا وأنا بقرن الثعالب فرفعت رأسي فإذا أنا بسحابة قد أظلتني فنظرت فإذا فيها جبريل فناداني فقال إن الله قد سمع قول قومك لك وما ردوا عليك وقد بعث إليك ملك الجبال لتأمره بما شئت فيهم فناداني ملك الجبال فسلم علي ثم قال يا محمد فقال ذلك فيما شئت إن شئت أن أطبق عليهم الأخشبين فقال النبي ﷺ بل أرجو أن يخرج الله من أصلابهم من يعبد الله وحده لا يشرك به شيئا
