Abu Hurairah reported,

Abu Bakr sent me among those who were to announce on the Day of Sacrifice at Mina that no polytheist would perform Hajj after this year, and no one would circumambulate the House while naked. The day of the greater pilgrimage is the Day of Sacrifice, and it was called "the greater" only because people used to refer to Umrah as "the lesser pilgrimage." So Abu Bakr made this proclamation to the people that year, and in the following year, the Year of the Farewell Pilgrimage in which the Prophet ﷺ performed Hajj, no polytheist performed Hajj.

حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري أخبرنا حميد بن عبد الرحمن أن

أبا هريرة قال

بعثني أبو بكر رضي الله عنه فيمن يؤذن يوم النحر بمنى لا يحج بعد العام مشرك ولا يطوف بالبيت عريان ويوم الحج الأكبر يوم النحر وإنما قيل الأكبر من أجل قول الناس الحج الأصغر فنبذ أبو بكر إلى الناس في ذلك العام فلم يحج عام حجة الوداع الذي حج فيه النبي ﷺ مشرك
