Abdullah bin Umar reported,

Umar bin Khattab expelled the Jews and Christians from the land of Hijaz. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had prevailed over the people of Khaybar, he intended to drive the Jews out of it. The land, once he had conquered it, belonged to the Jews, to the Messenger, and to the Muslims. The Jews asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to let them remain in exchange for taking on the labor, with half of the produce going to them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "We will allow you to remain on these terms for as long as we wish."So they remained until Umar, during his rule, expelled them to Tayma and Ariha.
