The Prophet ﷺ was given as gifts some robes of brocade adorned with gold buttons. He distributed them among some of his companions and set one aside for Makhrama bin Nawfal. Makhrama came along with his son Miswar bin Makhrama and stood at the door, saying, "Call him for me."The Prophet ﷺ heard his voice, took a robe, and came out to meet him with it, presenting its buttons toward him. He said, "Abu Miswar, I set this aside for you. Abu Miswar, I set this aside for you." Makhrama had a harshness in his temperament.Ibn Ulayya also narrated it from Ayub. Hatim bin Wardan said, Ayub narrated to us from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Miswar bin Makhrama, "Some robes were brought to the Prophet ﷺ." Layth followed him in this narration from Ibn Abu Mulayka.
