Ali bin Abu Talib reported,

I had received an aged she-camel as part of my share from the spoils of Badr, and the Prophet ﷺ had given me another aged she-camel from the fifth set aside for him. When I wished to consummate my marriage with Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I arranged with a goldsmith from Banu Qaynuqa to set out with me so that we might bring back idhkhir grass, which I intended to sell to the goldsmiths and use the proceeds for my wedding feast. While I was gathering saddles, sacks, and ropes for my two camels, which were kneeling beside the room of one of the Ansar, I returned, after collecting what I had collected, to find that the humps of my two camels had been cut off, their flanks slashed open, and pieces of their livers taken out. I could not hold back my tears at that sight.I asked, "Who did this?"They said, "Hamza bin Abdul-Muttalib did it. He is in this house with a group of the Ansar who have been drinking."I set off until I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ, and Zayd bin Haritha was with him. The Prophet ﷺ saw in my face what had befallen me.The Prophet ﷺ asked, "What is the matter with you?"I said, "Messenger of Allah, I have never seen anything like what has happened today. Hamza attacked my two she-camels, cut off their humps, and slashed open their flanks. He is in a house with companions drinking."The Prophet ﷺ called for his cloak, put it on, and then walked off. Zayd bin Haritha and I followed him until he came to the house where Hamza was. He sought permission to enter, and they admitted them. They were indeed drinking. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to reproach Hamza for what he had done, but Hamza was drunk, his eyes red.Hamza looked at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then raised his gaze and looked at his knees, then raised his gaze and looked at his navel, then raised his gaze and looked at his face. Then Hamza said, "Are you anything but slaves of my father?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ realized that he was drunk, so he stepped back, retreating on his heels, and we left with him.
