The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out, accompanied by Ubayy bin Kaab, toward Ibn Sayyad. He found him in a date-palm grove. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the grove, he began to conceal himself behind the trunks of the palm trees, while Ibn Sayyad was wrapped in a velvet cloak from which a murmuring sound could be heard.Ibn Sayyad's mother saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and called out, "Saf, this is Muhammad."At that, Ibn Sayyad sprang up, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Had she left him alone, the matter would have become clear."
قال الليث حدثني عقيل، عن ابن شهاب، عن سالم بن عبد الله،
انطلق رسول الله ﷺ ومعه أبى بن كعب قبل ابن صياد، فحدث به في نخل، فلما دخل عليه رسول الله ﷺ النخل، طفق يتقي بجذوع النخل، وابن صياد في قطيفة له فيها رمرمة، فرأت أم ابن صياد رسول الله ﷺ فقالت يا صاف، هذا محمد، فوثب ابن صياد، فقال رسول الله ﷺ لو تركته بين.
