I met Abu Dharr at Rabadhah, and he was wearing a fine garment while his servant wore one just like it. I asked him about this, and he said, "I once quarreled with a man and insulted him by reviling his mother. The Prophet ﷺ said to me, 'Abu Dharr, did you insult him by reviling his mother? You are a man in whom there is still some of the ways of pre-Islamic ignorance. Your brothers are your servants, whom Allah has placed under your authority. So whoever has his brother under his authority should feed him from what he eats and clothe him from what he wears. Do not burden them with what overwhelms them, and if you do burden them, then help them.'"
