Kaab bin Malik reported,

Abdullah bin Kaab رضي الله عنه, who served as Kaab's guide from among his sons after he lost his sight, said, "I heard Kaab bin Malik recount the time he stayed behind from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to set out on a military expedition, he would conceal his true destination by hinting at another."
