The Prophet ﷺ said, "Wretched is the slave of the dinar, the slave of the dirham, and the slave of the fine cloak. If he is given, he is pleased, and if he is not given, he is displeased. May he be wretched and cast down, and if he is pricked by a thorn, may it never be drawn out. Blessed is the servant who takes hold of his horse's reins in the way of Allah, his hair unkempt and his feet covered in dust. If he is posted to the watch, he stays at the watch, and if he is posted to the rear guard, he stays with the rear guard. If he seeks permission to enter, he is not granted it, and if he intercedes, his intercession is not accepted."And he said, concerning "So may they be wretched" [Muhammad 47:8], it is as though it were saying, "So may Allah make them wretched." As for "tuba," it follows the pattern fula and comes from everything that is good and pleasant. It contains a ya that was changed into a waw, and it derives from the root meaning to be good.
وزادنا عمرو قال أخبرنا عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن دينار عن أبيه عن أبي صالح
عن النبي ﷺ قال تعس عبد الدينار وعبد الدرهم وعبد الخميصة إن أعطي رضي وإن لم يعط سخط تعس وانتكس وإذا شيك فلا انتقش طوبى لعبد آخذ بعنان فرسه في سبيل الله أشعث رأسه مغبرة قدماه إن كان في الحراسة كان في الحراسة وإن كان في الساقة كان في الساقة إن استأذن لم يؤذن له وإن شفع لم يشفع وقال {فتعسا} كأنه يقول فأتعسهم الله {طوبى} فعلى من كل شيء طيب وهي ياء حولت إلى الواو وهي من يطيب
