Anas bin Malik reported,

When the verse was revealed, "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love" [Aal Imran 3:92], Abu Talha came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, Allah says in His Book, 'You will never attain righteousness until you spend from what you love' [Aal Imran 3:92], and the dearest of my properties to me is Bayruha."It was a garden that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to enter, take shade in, and drink from its water.Abu Talha continued, "It is now for the sake of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. I hope for its reward and its store with Allah. So place it, Messenger of Allah, wherever Allah shows you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Well done, Abu Talha! That is a profitable property. We accept it from you and return it to you. Give it to your near relatives."So Abu Talha distributed it among his kinsmen. The narrator said that among them were Ubayy and Hassan.Hassan sold his share of it to Muawiya, and someone said to him, "Are you selling the charity of Abu Talha?"He replied, "Should I not sell a measure of dates for a measure of dirhams?"That garden was on the site of the palace of Banu Hudayla which Muawiya built.

وقال إسماعيل أخبرني عبد العزيز بن عبد الله بن أبي سلمة، عن إسحاق بن عبد الله بن أبي طلحة، لا أعلمه إلا

عن أنس رضى الله عنه قال

لما نزلت {لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون} جاء أبو طلحة إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله يقول الله تبارك وتعالى في كتابه {لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون} وإن أحب أموالي إلى بيرحاء قال وكانت حديقة كان رسول الله ﷺ يدخلها ويستظل بها ويشرب من مائها فهي إلى الله عز وجل وإلى رسوله ﷺ أرجو بره وذخره، فضعها أى رسول الله حيث أراك الله. فقال رسول الله ﷺ بخ يا أبا طلحة، ذلك مال رابح، قبلناه منك ورددناه عليك، فاجعله في الأقربين. فتصدق به أبو طلحة على ذوي رحمه، قال وكان منهم أبى وحسان، قال وباع حسان حصته منه من معاوية، فقيل له تبيع صدقة أبي طلحة فقال ألا أبيع صاعا من تمر بصاع من دراهم قال وكانت تلك الحديقة في موضع قصر بني حديلة الذي بناه معاوية.
