Ibn Shihab reported,

Urwa bin Zubayr, Ibn al-Musayyab, Alqama bin Waqqas, and Ubaydullah bin Abdullah informed me of the report of Ayesha , parts of their accounts confirming one another, regarding the time when the people of the slander said what they said about her.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Ali and Usama, when revelation was delayed, to consult them about parting from his wife.As for Usama, he said, "She is your wife, and we know nothing but good of her."Bareerah said, "The only fault I could hold against her is that she is a young girl who falls asleep over her family's dough, so the household sheep comes and eats it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Who will excuse me regarding a man whose harm against my family has reached me? By Allah, I have known nothing but good of my wife, and they have mentioned a man of whom I have known nothing but good."

عن ابن شهاب قال

أخبرني عروة بن الزبير وابن المسيب وعلقمة بن وقاص وعبيد الله بن عبد الله عن حديث عائشة رضي الله عنها وبعض حديثهم يصدق بعضا حين قال لها أهل الإفك ما قالوا فدعا رسول الله ﷺ عليا وأسامة حين استلبث الوحي يستأمرهما في فراق أهله فأما أسامة فقال أهلك ولا نعلم إلا خيرا وقالت بريرة إن رأيت عليها أمرا أغمصه أكثر من أنها جارية حديثة السن تنام عن عجين أهلها فتأتي الداجن فتأكله فقال رسول الله ﷺ من يعذرنا في رجل بلغني أذاه في أهل بيتي فوالله ما علمت من أهلي إلا خيرا ولقد ذكروا رجلا ما علمت عليه إلا خيرا
