Abdullah bin Umar reported,

Umar bin Khattab saw a silk garment being sold at the door of the mosque, so he said, "Messenger of Allah, if only you would buy this and wear it on Fridays and when receiving delegations."He replied, "This is worn only by one who has no share in the Hereafter."Later, some garments of this kind were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave one of them to Umar.Umar said, "You have given me this to wear, yet you said what you said about the garment of Utarid?"He answered, "I did not give it to you so that you would wear it."So Umar gave it to a brother of his in Mecca who was a polytheist.
