Bukhari 2585

Bukhari related the hadith of Isa bin Yunus, from Hisham, that he would accept gifts and give something in return for them. He said, Waki and Amir also related it, but they did not mention "from Ayesha."

Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari, after his statement that Waki and Muhadir did not mention, from Hisham, from his father, from Ayesha, "This indicates that Isa bin Yunus alone connected it from Hisham. Tirmidhi and Bazzar said, we do not know it as connected except through the hadith of Isa bin Yunus. Ajurri said, I asked Abu Dawud about it, and he said, Isa bin Yunus alone connected it, and among the people it is considered mursal. As for the narration of Waki, Ibn Abu Shayba connected it from him with the wording, and He will reward with something better than it. As for the narration of Muhadir, I have not come across it." End of quote.And in the introduction to Fath al-Bari, after mentioning the statement of Daraqutni, he said, "I say, he gave preference to the connected narration on account of the reliability of its narrators." End of quote.After presenting Hafiz's discussion, may Allah have mercy on him, it is fitting for me to turn back to the biographies of those who connected it and those who narrated it as mursal. The one who connected it is Isa bin Yunus Subayi. Hafiz said of him in Taqrib, "Trustworthy, dependable." The two who narrated it as mursal are Waki bin Jarra and Muhadir bin Muwarri. As for Waki, Hafiz said of him in Taqrib, "Trustworthy, a hafiz, devoted in worship." As for Muhadir, he said, "Truthful, but has lapses."
