Amra bint Abdul-Rahman reported,

Barirah came to seek the help of Ayesha, Umm Muiminin . Ayesha said to her, "If your owners would agree that I pay your price in a single sum and free you, I will do so."Barirah mentioned this to her owners, but they said, "No, unless your right of allegiance remains with us."Malik said, Yahya said, Amra claimed that Ayesha mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Buy her and free her, for the right of allegiance belongs only to the one who frees the slave."

أن بريرة جاءت تستعين عائشة أم المؤمنين رضي الله عنها فقالت لها إن أحب أهلك أن أصب لهم ثمنك صبة واحدة فأعتقك فعلت فذكرت بريرة ذلك لأهلها فقالوا لا إلا أن يكون ولاؤك لنا قال مالك قال يحيى فزعمت عمرة أن عائشة ذكرت ذلك لرسول الله ﷺ فقال اشتريها وأعتقيها فإنما الولاء لمن أعتق
