The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever frees his share or portion of a slave must complete the slave's emancipation from his own wealth, if he has wealth. Otherwise, the slave is to be valued fairly, and the slave is then required to earn the remainder without being burdened beyond his capacity."Hajjaj bin Hajjaj, Abban, and Musa bin Khalaf followed him in narrating this from Qatada. Shuba narrated it in abbreviated form.
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا يزيد بن زريع حدثنا سعيد عن قتادة عن النضر بن أنس عن بشير بن نهيك
أن النبي ﷺ قال من أعتق نصيبا أو شقيصا في مملوك فخلاصه عليه في ماله إن كان له مال وإلا قوم عليه فاستسعي به غير مشقوق عليه تابعه حجاج بن حجاج وأبان وموسى بن خلف عن قتادة اختصره شعبة
