We were in Medina when a year of drought struck us. Ibn Zubayr used to provide us with dates as our ration, and Ibn Umar would pass by us and say, "Do not eat dates two at a time, for the Prophet ﷺ forbade pairing them unless one of you seeks permission from his companion."
