The people asked him, with no one between him and me, what was used to treat the Prophet's ﷺ wound. He replied, "No one alive knows more about it than I do. Ali kept bringing his shield filled with water, and Fatimah was washing the blood from his face. Then a piece of mat was taken and burned, and his wound was packed with its ashes."
حدثنا محمد يعني ابن سلام قال أخبرنا سفيان بن عيينة عن أبي حازم سمع
وسأله الناس وما بيني وبينه أحد بأي شيء دووي جرح النبي ﷺ فقال ما بقي أحد أعلم به مني كان علي يجيء بترسه فيه ماء وفاطمة تغسل عن وجهه الدم فأخذ حصير فأحرق فحشي به جرحه
