The Prophet ﷺ said, "While three men were walking, rain caught them, so they took shelter in a cave on a mountainside. A boulder rolled down from the mountain and sealed the mouth of the cave, trapping them inside.They said to one another, 'Look back at the righteous deeds you have done for the sake of Allah, and call upon Allah by them. Perhaps He will relieve you.'One of them said, 'O Allah, I had two elderly parents and young children. I used to tend my flock to provide for them. When I returned in the evening, I would milk the animals and begin by giving the milk to my parents to drink before my own children. One day I was delayed, and I did not return until nightfall. I found my parents already asleep. I milked as I usually did, then stood by their heads, unwilling to wake them yet also unwilling to give the milk to my children before them, while my little ones cried at my feet from hunger. I remained like this until dawn broke. O Allah, if You know that I did this seeking Your pleasure, relieve us of this distress so that we may see the sky.' So Allah created an opening, and they could see the sky.The second said, 'O Allah, I had a cousin whom I loved as deeply as any man can love a woman. I tried to seduce her, but she refused, until I came to her with one hundred dinars. I worked hard until I gathered the sum. When I sat between her legs, she said, 'Servant of Allah, fear Allah, and do not break the seal except by its rightful means.' So I got up. O Allah, if You know that I did this seeking Your pleasure, relieve us further.' So Allah opened it more.The third said, 'O Allah, I hired a worker for a measure of rice. When he finished his work, he said, 'Give me my wage.' I offered it to him, but he refused to take it. I kept investing it on his behalf, planting and growing crops, until from it I had gathered cattle and a herdsman. He came to me later and said, 'Fear Allah.' I replied, 'Go to those cattle and their herdsman and take them.' He said, 'Fear Allah, and do not mock me.' I said, 'I am not mocking you. Take them.' So he took them. O Allah, if You know that I did this seeking Your pleasure, relieve us of what remains.' So Allah relieved them entirely."Abu Abdullah said, Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Uqba reported from Nafi using the wording "fasaaytu" (so I strove).
حدثنا إبراهيم بن المنذر حدثنا أبو ضمرة حدثنا موسى بن عقبة عن نافع
عن النبي ﷺ قال بينما ثلاثة نفر يمشون أخذهم المطر فأووا إلى غار في جبل فانحطت على فم غارهم صخرة من الجبل فانطبقت عليهم فقال بعضهم لبعض انظروا أعمالا عملتموها صالحة لله فادعوا الله بها لعله يفرجها عنكم قال أحدهم اللهم إنه كان لي والدان شيخان كبيران ولي صبية صغار كنت أرعى عليهم فإذا رحت عليهم حلبت فبدأت بوالدي أسقيهما قبل بني وإني استأخرت ذات يوم فلم آت حتى أمسيت فوجدتهما ناما فحلبت كما كنت أحلب فقمت عند رءوسهما أكره أن أوقظهما وأكره أن أسقي الصبية والصبية يتضاغون عند قدمي حتى طلع الفجر فإن كنت تعلم أني فعلته ابتغاء وجهك فافرج لنا فرجة نرى منها السماء ففرج الله فرأوا السماء وقال الآخر اللهم إنها كانت لي بنت عم أحببتها كأشد ما يحب الرجال النساء فطلبت منها فأبت علي حتى أتيتها بمائة دينار فبغيت حتى جمعتها فلما وقعت بين رجليها قالت يا عبد الله اتق الله ولا تفتح الخاتم إلا بحقه فقمت فإن كنت تعلم أني فعلته ابتغاء وجهك فافرج عنا فرجة ففرج وقال الثالث اللهم إني استأجرت أجيرا بفرق أرز فلما قضى عمله قال أعطني حقي فعرضت عليه فرغب عنه فلم أزل أزرعه حتى جمعت منه بقرا وراعيها فجاءني فقال اتق الله فقلت اذهب إلى ذلك البقر ورعاتها فخذ فقال اتق الله ولا تستهزئ بي فقلت إني لا أستهزئ بك فخذ فأخذه فإن كنت تعلم أني فعلت ذلك ابتغاء وجهك فافرج ما بقي ففرج الله قال أبو عبد الله وقال إسماعيل بن إبراهيم بن عقبة عن نافع فسعيت
