Saeed bin Jubayr reported,

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهم said concerning the verse "And for everyone We have made heirs" [Nisa 4:33] that it means inheritors, and concerning "and those with whom your right hands have made a pact" [Nisa 4:33] he explained, When the Emigrants first came to Madinah, an Emigrant would inherit from an Ansari to the exclusion of the Ansari's own blood relatives, because of the bond of brotherhood the Prophet ﷺ had established between them. Then when "And for everyone We have made heirs" [Nisa 4:33] was revealed, that arrangement was abrogated. He then said, As for "and those with whom your right hands have made a pact" [Nisa 4:33], what remains of it is only help, support, and sincere counsel. Inheritance has been done away with, though a bequest may still be made in his favor.
