Malik bin Aws bin Hadathan reported,

He informed him that he was seeking to exchange one hundred dinars. Talha bin Ubaydullah called me over, and we negotiated until he agreed to make the exchange with me. He took the gold and began turning it over in his hand, then said, "Wait until my treasurer comes from al-Ghabah."Umar was listening to this and said, "By Allah, you shall not part from him until you take it from him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Gold for gold is usury unless it is hand to hand, wheat for wheat is usury unless it is hand to hand, barley for barley is usury unless it is hand to hand, and dates for dates is usury unless it is hand to hand.'"
