When Abdul-Rahman bin Awf arrived in Medina, the Prophet ﷺ established a bond of brotherhood between him and Saad bin Rabi al-Ansari. Saad was a man of wealth, so he said to Abdul-Rahman, "I will share my wealth with you in halves, and I will help you marry."Abdul-Rahman replied, "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. Just show me the way to the market."He did not return until he had earned a profit of dried curd and clarified butter, which he brought to his household. We remained for a short while, or as long as Allah willed, when he came one day with traces of yellow perfume on him.The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "What is this?"He answered, "Messenger of Allah, I have married a woman from the Ansar."The Prophet asked, "What dowry did you give her?"He replied, "A piece of gold the size of a date stone," or, "the weight of a date stone in gold."The Prophet said, "Hold a wedding feast, even with just a single sheep."
