Ayesha reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform itikaf during every Ramadan, and after he prayed the morning prayer he would enter the place where he was secluding himself.Ayesha asked his permission to perform itikaf, and he granted it to her, so she set up a tent inside the mosque. When Hafsa heard about it, she set up a tent as well, and when Zaynab heard, she put up another tent.When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished the morning prayer, he saw four tents and asked, "What is this?"He was informed about them, and he said, "Was it piety that led them to do this? Take them down, I do not want to see them."So the tents were removed, and he did not perform itikaf during that Ramadan. Instead, he performed itikaf during the last ten days of Shawwal.

عن عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت

كان رسول الله ﷺ يعتكف في كل رمضان وإذا صلى الغداة دخل مكانه الذي اعتكف فيه قال فاستأذنته عائشة أن تعتكف فأذن لها فضربت فيه قبة فسمعت بها حفصة فضربت قبة وسمعت زينب بها فضربت قبة أخرى فلما انصرف رسول الله ﷺ من الغداة أبصر أربع قباب فقال ما هذا فأخبر خبرهن فقال ما حملهن على هذا آلبر انزعوها فلا أراها فنزعت فلم يعتكف في رمضان حتى اعتكف في آخر العشر من شوال
