The Prophet ﷺ intended to perform itikaf. When he went out to the place where he meant to seclude himself, he found tents pitched there, the tent of Ayesha, the tent of Hafsah, and the tent of Zaynab. He said, "Is it righteousness you suppose them to be seeking?" Then he turned away and did not perform itikaf until he observed it for ten days in Shawwal.

أن النبي ﷺ أراد أن يعتكف فلما انصرف إلى المكان الذي أراد أن يعتكف إذا أخبية خباء عائشة وخباء حفصة وخباء زينب فقال أالبر تقولون بهن ثم انصرف فلم يعتكف حتى اعتكف عشرا من شوال
