Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting is a shield, so let the one fasting not speak obscenely or behave ignorantly. If someone fights him or insults him, let him say, 'I am fasting,' twice. By the One in whose hand is my soul, the breath from the mouth of the fasting person is more pleasing to Allah the Exalted than the scent of musk. He leaves his food, his drink, and his desire for My sake. Fasting is for Me, and I Myself reward it. And a good deed is rewarded tenfold."
